OUR BELIEFS

OUR FOUNDATIONAL BELIEFS AT CFC

1. We are a fellowship.....

... solidly based upon the foundation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ which has been set in place by the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone. Our firm stand pertains to the elements of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In a day when a diluted message is producing deluded people, we stress a thorough proclaimation of the Word of God, emphasizing four essential ministries of the Lord Jesus to those who will believe:

> Jesus Christ the Savior               - John 3:16;  Acts 4:12

> Jesus Christ the Baptizer            - Mark 1:8;  Acts 2:4

> Jesus Christ the Healer               - Hebrews 13:8;  James 5:14-15

> Jesus Christ the Coming King   - John 14:3;  1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

2. As a New Testament Church, We emphasize....

Adherence to the Word of God - spiritual works have historically fallen into error or imbalance whenever the Word has been neglected or disobeyed.

Exaltation of the Lord Jesus Christ - we acknowledge His majesty in all realms, and His ministry to us as Savior, Baptizer, Healer, and soon-returning King!

The ministry of the Holy Spirit - whose objective is to glorify Jesus, and who leads responsive people into dimensions of fruitfulness and fulfillment.

The fellowship of believers - we recognize the unity of the Body of Christ, The Church being the sum of those who have been born again by faith.

The ministry of the believer - we believe that the Spirit-filled Christian is intended to become a fully authorized agent of the Kingdom of God.

3. As a believing church we stand on these foundational truths....

Repentance and Forgiveness:

Jesus said, "Repent, for God's Kingdom is drawing near to you." (Matthew 4:17). The summons of the Savior to our confession of sin and acknowledgement of His provision for new life. God's eternal salvation is available only through His Son, whom He has given that we might have life abundant in the present and life everlasting in the future. (John 3:16; Matthew 10:32; Acts 4:10-12 Romans 5:1, 8:1)

Water Baptism:

After declaring His Lordship over our lives, Jesus states in Matthew 28:19 that we are to follow Him in the waters of baptism. When the Gospel was first preached, those who heard were convinced of its truth and asked the disciples: "What shall we do (to be saved)?" Peter responded: "Repent and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." (Acts 2:37-38)

Baptism in the Holy Spirit:

Christ's promise in Acts 1:5 is as available and applicable today as it was when our changeless Lord spoke it: "..You shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now." The promise of Acts 2:38-39 is to be taken seriously as well. This timeless blessing is ours for the receiving.

Healing and Deliverance:

We believe in divine healing as the power of Jesus Christ to heal the sick and affliced in answer to believing prayer (James 5:15). We anoint with oil (James 5:14) and believe that the anointing is symbolic of the consecration of the sick person and the joyous presence of the Holy Spirit who brings the healing. We also recognize that much affliction is the result of deeper need which spiritual counsel and guidance in the Word of God can remedy.
